YouTHink – Saying NO to Corruption
The YouTHink project, which is implemented by the organization Ja bih u EU and financed by the American Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, takes an innovative approach to strengthening the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the further engagement of young people in demanding for greater responsibility among institutions in terms of the prevention/fight against corruption. Although an extremely large percentage of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are aware of the existence of corruption in various forms, the overall social climate, unfavorable socioeconomic conditions, and lack of reform related to the rule of law make citizens feel generally insecure and powerless in the fight against corruption.
The goal of the YouTHink project is to engage and motivate young people and civil society organizations to respond to various forms of corruption through their direct engagement in civic activities and the processes of experiential learning and practice. Our goal is also to mobilize young citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina as allies for future reform in the area of the rule of law and for mass public and more effective opposition to corruption. The project will bring together all interested young people aged 17 to 25 from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Accordingly, we have created a survey in order to gain a better understanding of the perception of young people when it comes to the rule of law and the level of responsibility of institutions in this country in the matter of corruption prevention.
The findings of the survey will be used to lay the groundwork for the project's activities, such as panels, the Academy and direct youth advocacy aimed at institutions. The YouTHink – Saying NO to Corruption activities will also include educating a large number of young people from Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Zenica, Tuzla, Mrkonjić Grad, Mostar, Bijeljina, Zvornik and surrounding towns and other civil society organizations and institutions. The first activities are three peer panels that will be held in Banja Luka, Mostar and Sarajevo.
The topics of the panel will be based on both the survey and the following questions. How does corruption affect the life of young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are the most common forms of corruption? What is your view of corruption in public institutions? What is your view of corruption in education?
You will be able to find all information about the project and future activities on the website and social networks of the organization www.jabiheu.ba.
